It is not a religion by any means but an art and science (knowledge) used by God and given to man in order that man may balance the energies of any given space (environment) to assure the health and good fortune of those inhabiting the environment. It was perfected over 3000 years ago in China. The Chinese is believed to have obtained the understanding of it from India. India is believed to have obtained the knowledge from Africa (Egypt in particular) which would have referred to it as a form of Sacred Geometry. Mao Tze Dong, who lived from December 26, 1893 to September 09, 1976 and led the People's Republic of China from its establishment in 1949 until his death in 1976, had the most modern influence on this art and science.
"Feng" means wind and "Shui" means water. Its basic principle is for man to live in harmony with the earth's environments and energy so that there is balance with forces of nature (i.e. harmony between heaven, earth and man). When man is in harmony with heaven, earth and each other, everything in his/her life flow happily, smoothly and easily. This is because the environment (including the universe and the earth) is full of powerful but invisible energy. Some of these energies are believed to be auspicious, bringing great good fortune like happiness, good health, good luck, successful marriage, successful career, wealth, prosperity and so on. However, some energy is believed to be pernicious and hostile thereby bringing unhappiness, loss and death.
In the Bible immediately after God had created the heaven and the earth, the first metaphysical science that he performed was Feng Shui.
Genesis 1:1-2 states "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit Of God moved (hovered) upon the face of the waters." In Genesis 1:3-31 and 2:1 a balancing of the environment occurred. Because of this balancing harmony was obtained. This is evident in that Genesis 2:2 states "And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made." |
